Indy Residents Encouraged to Visit Super Bowl Village

Super Bowl XLVI is days away and as the big event approaches, the city is gearing up in preparation. Hosting the Super Bowl brings many events to Indianapolis in addition to the main event. Thousands of volunteers have been working for a year to get the city ready. One special feature of the event is the Super Bowl Village. And while most Indianapolis residents won't set foot into the Super Bowl game, Super Bowl Village offers a unique and fun-filled NFL experience for everyone.

On January 27, Super Bowl Village kicked off, taking over a three-block area of downtown for 10 days for an interactive festival. Celebrating the sport of football, the festival draws in tens of thousands of NFL fans. Here are some of the things you can expect from Super Bowl Village.

Zip Through Downtown
One of the things fans can expect is a four-line zip line. The zip line runs tandem down Capitol Avenue and are The zip lines run approximately 80 feet tall and 650 feet in length. Cost for the zip line experience is $10.

Rock Out to Great Music
NFL fans can expect a lot of music from Super Bowl Village. Two stages will host over 80 local, regional and national bands in concert. One stage is located at Pennsylvania and Georgia near Conseco Fieldhouse and one stage at Meridian and Georgia. For a list of performers, visit the Super Bowl Village Event Calendar.

Tailgate Town
One part of the village, Tailgate Town completely immerses the fans in football. Tailgate competitions and interactive game playing on football turf provide an exciting experience for fans.

Check Out Special Indy Cars
Giving the Super Bowl Village a real Indianapolis feel, there are three Indy-style cars on display. One car features the AFC champion logo, another dons the NFC champion logo and one car will be Super Bowl-themed.

Make Plans to Visit
The Super Bowl Village is free. It is open from Friday, January 27 through Super Bowl Sunday on February 5. Local and regional visitors who may not plan to attend Super Bowl XLVI are encouraged to visit the Super Bowl Village on the first weekend through Wednesday, February 1, 2012. During that time, residents will have greater access to hotel and restaurant availability.
