Keep in mind that most gyms require a signing fee in addition to some type of monthly fee. Most require anywhere from a one year to two year contract. At least once a year, usually in January, various gyms offer to waive the joining fee. Also, when considering gym costs, keep in mind that it's a very competitive market and you can often negotiate a waived signing fee or a lower monthly charge. It never hurts to try. If you aren't sure you want to make a long-term commitment to any one facility, look for those that will allow a month-by-month membership. Whatever the case, this list will help you select the perfect place.
