Indianapolis and Marion County Public Schools: Grades K-12

Under the UniGov system of government, Indianapolis occupies all of Marion County. The area within the old (pre-UniGov) city limits, including Center Township and some irregular juts into the surrounding eight townships, is served by Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS). The other eight townships - Washington, Lawrence, Warren, Franklin, Perry, Decatur, Wayne, and Pike - have their own municipal school districts. Also within Marion County are Speedway and Beech Grove public schools.
