Joseph Staub House, 342 N. College Ave.

Not only was this Lockerbie Square building the home of Joseph Staub during the Civil War era, it was also the place from which he ran his business - making Civil War uniforms.

Next, continue heading east to College Avenue, and turn left (north) on College. Our next stop is 342 N. College Ave.

Another home documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey, this Federal-style house was built in 1859 by immigrant Joseph Staub. A tailor, Staub conducted his business — producing Civil War uniforms — from his home. Restored by the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, this house is typical of homes owned by individuals with modest incomes just before the Civil War.
