From Theatrical performances to Farmers Markets, There's Plenty To Do in Indy

After Indianapolis rings in the New Year, you might be left thinking the excitement is over, but there's plenty left to do this month. Enjoy Disney on Ice with the kids or take time to stroll through the Winters Farmers Market. There's plenty of theatrical performances to look into this month as well. Beat the winter blues and enjoy this month's events.

'Arsenic and Old Lace'

This classic Broadway production open in 1941 and ran until 1944, with over 1,444 shows. It gained popularity in the 1944 film adaptation, starring Cary Grant. Beef & Boards has brought the show back to Indianapolis. Follow the story of spinster sisters Abby and Martha Brewster, known for their devotion to family and charity. A little less known, the two have an infinity for poisioning lonely old men! Tickets are $37 - $55 and include a buffet dinner.

'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'

Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice’s musical adaptation of the well-known Biblical tale concludes this month! The trials and triumphs of Jacob’s favorite son is told entirely in song, blending 50s Rock-n-Roll, Country Western, Calypso, Pop and French Chanson. Tickets are $44 for adults; $34 for youth 17 and under.

Indiana Home and Garden Show

Dreaming of a new home? Looking for a new garden design or landscape ideas? If so, check out the Indiana Home and Garden Show. The show features the latest innovations in design trends in home and gardening. Tickets are $5, 18 and under is free.

Devour Downtown Winterfest

Devour Downtown is a bi-annual event that gives diners an opportunity to try restaurants that they might not normally consider. During the event more than 50 of Indy's best restaurants offer 3-course meals for $30 (some two for $30; some at lunch). Examples of participating restaurants include Fogo de Chao, Scotty's Brewhouse, Shula's, Morton's and many more! Reservations may be required at some restaurants; verify with the venue.

37th Annual Greater Indianapolis Garage Sale

It's the mother of all garage sales! Enjoy browsing over 600 booths, offering a wide array of items including antiques, collectibles, jewelry, new and used clothing, arts and crafts, furniture and more. Tickets are $3.50 per person or $5 for a weekend pass.

Harlem Globetrotters

Enjoy the hilarious basketball talents of the Harlem Globetrotters. The team brings their special style of family entertainment to Bankers Life Fieldhouse this month. Tickets range in price from $22 - $114.

Disney On Ice: Worlds of Fantasy

A great event for families with younger children. Disney on Ice: Worlds of Fantasy features four Disney stories, combined into one action-packed show. Favorite characters include Buzz Lightyear and Woody from the Toy Story movies, as well as Cars characters, Tinkerbell and her friends and Ariel, the Little Mermaid. Tickets for the show range in price from $12 - $70.

Indy Winter Farmers Market at the Indianapolis City Market

Farmer's markets are a great way to get fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, baked goods, herbs, natural cleaning products and other locally produced food and household products. The Indy Winter Farmers Market at the Indianapolis City Market, strives to provide just that. The market is located in the West Wing of City Market and meets every Saturday morning.
