St. Patrick's Day in downtown Indianapolis is an exciting time. No matter what your heritage, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day. Downtown comes alive with activities such as parades, food, tent parties, and live entertainment. Celebrate downtown during the day and visit a local Irish pub in the evening to get the full St. Paddy's experience. The list below will help you take advantage of the scheduled activities.
Hoosier Lottery Greening of the Canal
St. Patrick's Day weekend will start off Thursday evening with the 17th Annual Greening of the Canal. Enjoy live music, dancing, special celebrity appearances. There will be Hoosier Lottery prize basket giveaways, free hors d'oeuvres and cash bar, free parking and much more. Ireland-native and award-winning Singer/Songwriter Eunan McIntyre will perform from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. The event is on the Stardust Terrace at the Indiana Historical Society, located at 450 W. Ohio Street on the downtown Canal.

33rd Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will feature high school bands, floats, catholic schools, Irish dancers, bag pipe & drum bands, Irish organizations, law enforcement, local media and celebrities. The parade is free to the public.
When: March 15; 11:30 a.m.
Where: North Street South to Ohio, North on Meridian, ending at Vermont Street.
Vermont Street Tent Party
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will host a tent party on Vermont Street Friday, March 15th. The festival includes food and beverages, including a beer garden and St. Patrick’s Day merchandise. Entertainment will be provided by Irish bands including Eunan McIntyre, Highland Reign, and The Kreelers. The tent is free to enter and it is open to the public.

Shamrock Run and Walk
The 22nd Annual Shamrock Run and Walk is the official race of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The race is open to people of all ages and abilities. Join the fun with thousands of others by participating in either the 4-mile Run/Walk (with timing tag) or the 4-mile Fun Walk (without timing tag). The course starts at Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis and goes to Fountain Square, home of the Irish Hill, before finishing back on the Circle. Participants can pre-register online. The Shamrock 4 Mile Run is $23 and the Shamrock 4 Mile Fitness Walk is $21. After March 10, the rate is $25 for the Run and Walk.

ShamRockin' the Circle
Welcome over 3,000 runners and walkers back to Monument Circle after the Shamrock Run and Walk at ShamRockin' the Circle. This event will feature entertainment, awards, prizes, food and beer garden. Local Irish bands including Eunan McIntyre, Elevation (U2 Tribute Band)and Mother Grove will perform. Awards will be handed out for the Walk and Run at 11:30 a.m. This event is free to the public.
