The Heartland Film Festival

The Heartland Film Festival is a unique opportunity for up-and-coming filmmakers to present their talent. The festival was first established in 1991 as a small, local event. It has since expanded and now features a full nine days of special events and both student and professional films. The annual festival takes place in October. Independent films are screened for the Heartland Film Festival, and $200,000 in cash prizes and Crystal Heart Awards will be presented to the top entries.

The Heartland Film Festival is currently accepting entries for the 2009 film festival. The early submission deadline is May 1, the regular deadline is June 16, and the late deadline available for online submissions only is June 26. The 2009 Heartland Film Festival will take place from October 15-24 in Indianapolis.

The Festival Music Society of Indiana is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing audiences with quality musical performances of Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque era pieces on period instruments. The society puts together the annual Early Music Festival held each June and July in Indianapolis.

The 42nd Indianapolis Early Music Festival will take place from June 26 through July 19, 2009. All concerts will be held in The Basile Opera Center located at 40th and Pennsylvania streets. Performers include Reconstruction, Ex Umbris, David Greenburg & Chris Norman with Ronn McFarlane & Mark Cudek, I Furiosi, Harmonious Blacksmith with Allsion Edberg, and The Peabody Consort.

Indianapolis Children's Choir Summer Choral Festival

The 24th annual Summer Choral Festival presented by the Indianapolis Children's Choir (ICC) will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Clowes Memorial Hall on the Butler University campus. ICC serves children from early childhood through high school and is comprised of many choirs, which vary in terms of skills and performance levels. These choirs are truly exceptional, and afficionados of choral music are sure to enjoy and appreciate their performances.
