Top 5 Pizza Places in Indy

All the best places to grab a slice in the Circle City

From About.com

This handy list is your guide to Pizza in Indianapolis. You can count on these fine establishments to satisfy your wildest desires, from upscale restaurants and gourmet artist pizzas, to the best dive in town for a quick and cheap (yet surprisingly delicious) midnight snack after a long evening of bar hopping.

5. Hot Box Pizza

Fresh, new, and trendy, Hot Box may not offer the attractive surroundings or variety of extras that the other spots on this list do, but they do know how to give their customers what they want. And when you're located in the middle of Broad Ripple Avenue, what your customers want is a quick, cheap, but still unique experience. And that's exactly what Hot Box delivers.

Hot Box isn't your average Sbarro's, either. Their pies can be coated with a healthy variety of cheeses and fresh vegetables.

4. Puck's

Known simply as "Puck's," this restaurant inside the Indianapolis Museum of Art was designed and endorsed by legendary West Coast chef Wolfgang Puck, and it certainly shows. The Pizzas, and all the other menu items, have a distinctly light, almost fruity taste, and the crust is more reminiscent of flatbread than pizza dough.

Wolfgang is known for his wood oven-fired pizzas, but the meager selection at Puck's is whittled down even more when you consider that most of the pizzas are essentially similar combinations of chicken and tomatoes, delicious though they may be.

3. Greek's Pizzeria

No more messing around with pizza as just one of many options on a restaurant's menu. Greek's is a full blown, classic pizzeria in every sense of the word, and they have the checkered tabletops to prove it. Renowned for their sweet, tangy sauce, you'll find that each and every one of Greek's pizzas, even the standard configurations, is a breath of fresh air in the pizza industry.

The Gourmet House, however, topped with mini meatballs, black olives, tangy Feta cheese and sweet onions, might very well be the best single pizza recipe in the city.

2. Rock Bottom Brewery

The Rock Bottom Brewery is one of the liveliest restaurants in the downtown area, and their pizzas are piled high with some of the freshest, heartiest ingredients you'll find anywhere. This restaurant almost tumbled down the list, however, due to their somewhat limited selection when it comes to pizzas.

But after sinking your teeth into their flaky, golden, pilsner-infused crust, you'll see why even their few pizza options hold their own against the specialty shops on this list.
