The Toby, short for The Randall L. and Marianne W. Tobias Theater, is a place to experience performances, speakers, and cinema of a culturally adventurous nature at the IMA.
The Toby has 600 seats, including a balcony. The theater is enhanced by a new sound system and high-def digital and 35 mm projection with Dolby surround sound. The lobby features high-style furniture to encouraging lingering and discussion. Green products were used in the renovation of the theater wherever possible. Drinks and snacks are for sale in the lobby.
The theater is designed to be comfortable for everyone, with accessible seating and assisted listening devices. You may also request sign language interpretation of an event by calling (317) 923-1331, ext. 296 or emailing education@imamuseum.org at least three weeks in advance of the event.
Programming includes cutting-edge performers embracing a spirit of internationalism and interdisciplinary themes; thought-provoking talks by leaders in many different creative enterprises; and art cinema, including classic, independent, international, and documentary films.
Admission to most Toby Art House Cinema Events is $9 for the public, $5 for IMA members, $7 for students 13 and up with ID, $5 for ages 12 and under. Prices for talks and performances vary. Purchase tickets at www.imamuseum.org, by calling (317) 955-2339, or at the door.
