Indianapolis Curfew Laws

By July 12, 2012

Follow me on:

During the summer months, curfew laws for minors is always a hot topic. This especially comes into play during large downtown events when large groups of  both local and visiting teens are out alone late into the evening. I thought I would remind parents of the current curfew law:

Curfew Restrictions for Children Under 15:

  • It is a violation for children under 15 to be in a public place after 11 p.m. and before 5 a.m. without adult supervision.

Curfew Restrictions for Children 15 - 17:

  • It is a violation for children under 15 to be in a public place between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. without adult supervision on Friday or Saturday.
  • It is a violation for children under 15 to be in a public place between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. without adult supervision Sunday - Thursday.

If children are detained by local law enforcement, it can mean fines for parents and required participation in programs.
