Get Ready for Ribfest

From , Former About.com GuideSeptember 1, 2009

Calling all rib lovers: The 14th annual Rib America Festival, a.k.a. Ribfest, will take place this Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4-7, in Military Park downtown at the corner of New York and West streets. Go for the ribs, the featured bands, or the festival atmosphere, but don't go with the expectation of sticking to your diet - Ribfest is the ultimate calorie splurge.

The featured food item, of course, is ribs, but pulled pork and chicken sandwiches , corn dogs, and bratwurst are also available, along with the usual go-withs, including baked beans, cole slaw, fries, roasted sweet corn, and onion blossoms. If you still have room after all that, you can finish your meal off with the likes of funnel cakes, ice cream, or deep-fried Oreos.

Several bands will take the Bud Light Music Stage, with this year's highlights being Night Ranger (9 p.m. Friday), Billy Squier (9 p.m. Saturday), and Puddle of Mudd (9 p.m. Sunday).

Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday, and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday. Admission is free before 5 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday; general admission is $5 at all other times for ages 12 and up.
